Butter Bean Hummus (Houmous)

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can butter beans
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons plain low-fat yogurt
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 lemon, juice of
  • sea salt, to taste
  • fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sambal oelek (not in original recipe) (optional)

Directions

  • 1 Put all ingredients in a food processor, apart from salt and pepper, and blend until just about smooth.
  • 2 Alternatively you can put them in a mixing bowl and use a stick blender.
  • 3 Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
