Herbed Cardamom Peas

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups peas
  • water, to cover peas for boiling
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon marjoram, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom, ground
  • 3 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 teaspoons fresh chives, snipped in 1 in pieces (optional)

Directions

  • 1 Place the peas in a saucepan and cover with water.
  • 2 Boil the peas for as long as you prefer (I only cook about 5 minutes).
  • 3 Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix together the salt, pepper, marjoran and cardamom.
  • 4 Drain the peas, then return them to the saucepan (off the heat).
  • 5 Sprinkle the spice mixture and parsley over them and mix well.
  • 6 Remove to serving bowl and top with the chives (if using); serve immediately!
